Cyber Essentials is the United Kingdom certification scheme designed to show an organisation has a good level of protection in cyber security. It is assessed annually to maintain certification, backed by the UK government and overseen by the National Cyber Security Centre.
Certification Options –
- Cyber Essentials self-assessment is a first step towards helping you protect your business from the most common cyber-attacks.
- Cyber Essentials Plus includes external verification of your Cyber Essentials application (so a higher certification level). This is the level we are certified for, to give you confidence that we take cyber security seriously.
Free Cyber Insurance –
Certification is valid for 12 months, can be published for your suppliers and customers to see, and it includes free £25,000 Cyber Insurance.
Requirements –
In the first year there would be some work to do to ensure that all your processes satisfy the required criteria, but as always our technical team will be on hand to assist (as much or as little as you need).
Why You Need it –
- It protects your organisation from common cyber attacks, and helps guard further against the most prevalent internet-based threats like malware, phishing, and hacking attempts.
- It builds customer confidence – having the certification shows that you take cybersecurity seriously, which reassures clients, partners, and suppliers.
- More and more it is a requirement for government contracts – many public sector tenders and contracts require Cyber Essentials certification to qualify.
- It reduces the risk and impact of cyber incidents. By implementing basic cybersecurity controls, you minimise the chance and severity of breaches.
- It improves overall security posture. It encourages good cyber hygiene and best practices across your organisation.
- Some insurers recognise Cyber Essentials as a factor in reducing risk.
